DHSEM expands sandbag delivery operation to support San Miguel County

San Miguel County – The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) and the State Fire Marshal’s office on Thursday delivered an additional 12 pallets of sandbags to support San Miguel County as they continue to experience flooding from the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon burn scar. To date, the department has delivered 10,000 sandbags to Mora and San Miguel counties. This mitigation effort is in partnership with the Penitentiary of New Mexico which assisted filling the sandbags.

These efforts have been successful in limiting flood damage, and DHSEM will continue to support these communities as needed.

“As our fellow New Mexicans experience flooding impacts, DHSEM will continue to do everything needed to help support counties when infrastructure and property are at risk,” said Secretary David Dye.
