Governor signs executive order providing additional funds to support Doña Ana County’s flood recovery

This order follows a state emergency declaration for Doña Ana County, which the Governor signed last month

Santa Fe, NM – Earlier today, Governor Lujan Grisham signed an executive order providing up to $750,000 for the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) to support public recovery efforts in Doña Ana County. This funding adds to the original $750,000 that was made available to the county following a state emergency declaration, which the Governor signed on August 15th.

According to the executive order, “this ongoing disaster is of such magnitude as to be beyond local control and requires the additional resources of the State of New Mexico to minimize economic or physical harm…”

“The state’s hope and expectation is that the county will expeditiously create mechanisms to deliver relief to those whose homes and livelihoods were impacted by these recent floods,” said Gov. Lujan Grisham. “State agencies will continue to coordinate and assist recovery efforts in every way that we can be useful.”
