A community that is part of the Floodplain Manager Program is proactively taking steps toward:
- Reducing flood losses in New Mexico.
- Improving the professional knowledge and capabilities of floodplain management in their community.
- Ensuing communities understand and properly administer NFIP requirements.
- Protect the natural and beneficial functions of floodplains.
- Establish consistent professional standards for floodplain management.
If you are a new Floodplain Administrator for your community, please notify the State NFIP Coordinator by sending an email with your name, title, community name, phone number and email address to DHSEM-Floodplain-Program@dhsem.nm.gov.

New Mexico Floodplain Managers Association
The New Mexico Floodplain Managers Association (NMFMA) offers localized support to FPA’s including their yearly conference, education, and information about earning your Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Certification.
Association of State Floodplain Managers
The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) is a national organization offering education, advocacy, and activities to mitigate current and future flood losses. They also host a yearly conference and have a wealth of information and a free online training library.
Flood Smart
The Flood Smart website offers information on the need for flood insurance and available insurance products as well as graphics you can use to help raise awareness in your community.
